Gertrude Gardens Flats
NAIROBI, KENYA

Gertrude’s Garden is a children’s hospital located in the prestigious Muthaiga area. The hospital, requiring capital to fund its developments, decided to develop, in collaboration with a pension fund, part of its surplus land on Muthaiga Road, and Triad were appointed to design the apartment complex.

The site with mature trees required sensitive handling to maximise its potential and yet maintain some of the environmental policy of the area. Twenty four 3-bedroom flats and eight 2-bedroom flats were constructed on site, using a Cape Dutch style. The project also involved the relocation of the original house which had historical significance and forming a club and swimming pool on site. The project’s unique character, and comfortable and spacious accommodation has made the address one of the most sought after in the high class housing rental market in Nairobi
