Nascop/Malaria Control Unit
NAIROBI, KENYA
These are two projects, designed
for the Government of
Kenya and funded by the Department
for International Development
of the British Government,
are part of an on-going
programme to support and
reinforce Primary Health Care
in Kenya. The two buildings,
on adjoining sites, house offices
and meeting rooms.
The NASCOP building is the
result of a sensitive conversion
of a 1920 disused laboratory.
The original single storey building
was extended to two storeys
and the original roof including
its characteristic jack roof was
reconstructed.
The Malaria Control Programme
building is an entirely
new building designed on a tight
site and houses offices, a laboratory
and a substantial conference
room. The project was designed
and constructed within a
period of ten months, and was
handed over to the Ministry of
Health in July 2000.
