Triad Architects were commissioned by Hewton Ltd (a subsidiary of Cooper Kenya Ltd) in mid-2004 to design and supervise the construction of 206 exclusive four-bedroom maisonnettes and a commercial centre on a 25 acre plot along Waiyaki Way in the Loresho area of Nairobi.

A market and site sensitive approach was adopted, resulting in three house prototypes designed on a difficult steep site. The ndividual units were designed on house plots of 243 m2, with resultant houses of 173 m2, 184 m2 and 194 m2. All the houses consist of four bedrooms with three bathrooms, a spacious lounge with adjacent dining room and a modern fitted kitchen. In addition all houses have self-contained domestic staff quarters. Generous backyards are provided at the rear of each house, with a 2-car parking yard at the front.

The Commercial Centre comprises of a 2-level shopping arcade incorporating twelve shopping units with spacious walkways and parking, large display windows, terraces on the upper floor and a service yard.

In addition the design includes a recreational dam, cabro paved driveways and parking, a boundary wall with electric fence and one access gate to improve security, landscaped gardens and a borehole.




The project is scheduled for completion by December 2007 and the sample houses are already under construction.
